CBSE Class 10 and 12: Important Announcement on Exam 2020

As a sigh of relief to students, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to cancel the pending Class 10 board examinations while the students of Class 12 will be given an option of appearing in exams after conditions are conducive, the Solicitor General told the Supreme Court. 

As per Hindustan Times report, the Class 12 students will get option to appear in exams or take assessment based on past three exams. Only through this assessment results will be out by July 15, the Solicitor General said. 

When CBSE told the Apex Court about its decision on conducting the pending board exams which were  scheduled from July 1 to 15. The court said that there needs to be clarity in notification as the delay in conducting exams will clash with admission process of universities, Hindustan Times further reported.

Following which the decisions on the same had to be taken. The Supreme Court bench led by J AM Khanwilkar heard the plea seeking cancellation of remaining CBSE exams due to COVID19.  

Meanwhile, CBSE Class 12 students would have to share their decision to opt for the examination at a later date or to accept the marks based on the three previous examinations. 

The Supreme Court was hearing a plea filed by few parents whose children were to appear in the CBSE board exams. In the plea, the parents said that the board students could be exposed to COVID-19 infection if they appear for exams amid rising cases in India. 

Earlier, the CBSE board exam was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak and lockdown.
