Building Collapses in Mumbai; 12 Dead, Over 35 Trapped

12 people have been killed and over 35 are trapped after a 100-year-old 4-storey building collapsed in Mumbai. The incident took place in south Mumbai's Dongri area.

People from about 15 families are feared to have been trapped under the debris. About 8 people have been rescued including 2 infants.

Fire tenders and teams of National Disaster Response Force are carrying out rescue operation. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) blamed eachother for the mishap.

MHADA chairman Uday Samant told Times Now that 12 people were dead according to preliminary information available to him, the Mumbai Police at 3:45 pm had issued a notice stating 4 people were dead, reports Times Now.
