Doctor Dies of COVID-19 After 3 Private Hospitals Refuse Admission – Relatives Narrate Shocking story!
Home > News Shots > India news A doctor in Bengaluru, Karnataka succumbed to the novel coronavirus infection after being turned down by three private hospitals for treatment.
Dr.Manjunath (50) was a frontline worker who was actively treating patients at the COVID-19 ward. However, he fell extremely ill earlier last month and several private facilities denied his admission when he sought for help as his COVID test results were yet to return. He had worked in the state Heath and Family Welfare department in Ramanagara, which is 50 kilometres away from Bengaluru.
Rajashekhar Hospital in JP Nagar, BGS Global Hospital in Kengeri and Sagar hospital in Kumaraswamy Layout, were the three hospitals that Manjunath’s family approached for admitting him. All three turned him away. He was also unable to get a bed at BBMP hospital despite his relative working as a doctor there.
After a long fight, he was admitted to Sagar hospital on June 25 after his family protested on the footpath. At the hospital he was placed under a ventilator. The hospital had discharged him on July 9 since he needed a plasma therapy. Unfortunately, he died in the early hours of July 24.
6 other family member tested positive but all have recovered from the infection.
Hospitals have been instructed to admit people even without their result certificates but certain hospitals have failed to comply by the norms.
