Save the Date: Arvind Kejriwal to Take Oath as Delhi Chief Minister
Home > News Shots > India newsMedia reports say that incumbent Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal will take oath as CM for the third term on February 16 at Ramlila Maidan. Meanwhile, not one to rest on his laurels, it is being learnt that Kejriwal has summoned a meeting of the party's newly-elected MLAs at his residence on Wednesday.
Some other reports also say that two dates are being considered for the swearing-in ceremony – February 14 and 16. Reports also say that a final call regarding the venue is also yet to be taken.
Just a while ago, Kejriwal met Delhi Lieutenant General Anil Baijal regarding the formation of the government.
The Aam Aadmi Party stormed to power yet again in the national capital, winning 62 of the 70 seats with the remaining being bagged by its closest rival, Bharatiya Janata Party. AAP’s development agenda worked largely in its favour.
Meanwhile, Congress leader PC Chacko spoke about the party’s disappointing run and said, “The downfall of the Congress party started in 2013 when Sheila ji was the CM. The emergence of a new party AAP took away the entire Congress vote bank. We could never get it back. It still remains with AAP.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to write, “Ji for the victory in the Delhi Assembly Elections. Wishing them the very best in fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Delhi.”
Kejriwal responded with, “Thank u so much sir. I look forward to working closely wid Centre to make our capital city into a truly world class city.”
