This place bans women from wearing nighties during daytime
Home > India newsA village in Andhra Pradesh recently announced a ban on wearing nighties during the daytime. The news of the ban went viral on social media following which the local authorities had to visit the village and launch an enquiry.
Reportedly, elderly women and some men of Thokalapalle village found it inconvenient to see women dressed in nighties at shops, village meeting and other occasions. The ban was announced following their request. Women seen wearing nighties between 7 am to 7 pm will be fined Rs 2,000. An award of Rs 1,000 will be given to those who report violations of the ban.
So far, nobody has been fined. It was only during Diwali when a few villagers revealed the ban to the local media. Villagers reportedly even supported the ban confidently on local media. The area Tehsildar along with the sub-inspector of police had to visit the village and caution the people to not take law into their own hands by issuing such a ban.
