A doctor at the Balaji Institute of Surgery, Research and Rehabilitation for Disabled (BIRRD) in Andhra Pradesh, has been in the dock for operating on the wrong leg of a 26-year-old accident victim, cutting open his healthy leg, according to a report in The New Indian Express.
The incident took place at the hospital run by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), on Saturday, but came to light on Tuesday, when the victim's friend who was a doctor noticed the gaffe.
The doctor in question has been suspended while the hospital has assured the victim that all necessary amendments would be made.
