Amit Shah Explains Citizenship Bill to Indian Muslims
Home > News Shots > India newsFollowed by Lok Sabha, the Citizenship amendment bill was passed at Rajya Sabha also as a part of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) long-standing election manifesto. According to the bill, Indian citizenship will be provided to refugees belonging to Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Parsi, Jain and Buddhist communities from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
Earlier, Home Minister Amit Shah talked about the Citizenship bill and its feared impact on Indian Muslims. Right after the bill was passed, there was a widespread discussion among various groups stating that it is against the rights of Indian Muslims.
To put an end to all the speculations, Home Minister Amit Shah clarified that Indian Muslims need not fear about the citizenship bill. Further, he questioned how shall it can be applicable to people who belong to other countries such as Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Amit Shah affirmed that the bill has been passed to create job and educational opportunities for people who come from foreign nations to India.
