Home > News Shots > India newsIn a shocking incident, a 21-year-old Mumbai woman was crushed to death by a truck after her vehicle hit a pothole and she fell on the road.
The woman identified as Neha Sheikh was supposed to get married next month. The incident took place around 10.30 pm near Dugadh junction on Wednesday when she went out to shop with her brother. Her brother was driving the scooter as she was riding pillion.
“No arrests have been made so far, but an offence under Section 304A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC has been registered at Ganeshpuri police station,” Assistant Police Inspector Mahesh Sagde was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
The case has been registered against the truck driver.
Later, volunteers from an NGO protested against the negligence of the concerned authorities. “A case has been filed against the truck driver but ideally it should be against the PWD authorities or the organization that was in charge of the maintenance and construction of the roads,” President of the NGO was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
