2 Dead, More Than 10 Injured After Bus Rams Into Bikes And Auto Rickshaws
Home > News Shots > India newsIn a sad and shocking case, at least two people were killed and 12 others have been injured after a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus crashed into bikes and auto-rickshaws on Monday morning.
This incident took place in West Bengaluru near Kottigepalya bus stop in Kamakshipalya; allegedly after the brakes failed.
According to The Indian Express report, the deceased have been identified as Bylaiah, who died on the spot, while Vishwaradhya, succumbed to the injuries in the hospital. There were 12-13 other people who have also been injured in the clash and are said to be in a critical condition.
Meanwhile, a senior police officer stated that the bus which was coming from Sunkadakatte towards Kottigepalya Junction lost control after having a brake failure. The bus driver identified as Venkatesh has been arrested.
During interrogation, the driver revealed that he had complained about the problem to the depot manager but was still asked to drive it.
Hours after the incident, the BMTC in a statement said that "an ex-gratia amount of Rs 25,000 will be given to the dependents of each deceased for cremation expenses. The expenditure of the injured persons will be borne by BMTC".
