Video of Chinese Man Butchering Classic Illayaraja Song Surfaces: Netizens React
Home > News Shots > Fun Facts newsAfter Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Mamallapuram near Chennai in Tamil Nadu, people around the world became curious about the place and its historic background attached with Tamil culture.
Xi Jinping and Narendra Modi had a second informal summit on October 11 & 12 and it was said that the meeting would strengthen up the Government of India's ties with China. Meanwhile, a video of a Chinese man butchering one of the classic Illayaraja hit songs surfaced on facebook.
In the video, the man could be seen driving a car while singing Illayaraja's "Unna Pola Aatha" ( A Mother like you) song from the 1988 film Ennai Vittu Pogaathe ( Don't Leave Me). It is a pathos song describing the bonding of Motherhood and Child. It will have Maestro Illayaraja's voice and remains to be the favourite for many music lovers. The lyrics would have a personal connection to the native listeners bringing out the pain, love and affection of a Mother.
Though there is a saying that Music has no language, it doesn't apply to lyrics is what the below video proves. People would want to appreciate the effort of the Chinese man to sing such a classic Tamil song but not his pronunciation of the words.
He could be seen slaughtering the lyrics which would apparently reflect on the reactions of Tamil music lovers, especially Illayaraja fans. While some fans laugh it out looking at his inability to pronounce the lyrics, some may find it hard to digest the man spoiling the classic Illayaraja hit song.
The reactions of a few fans could be seen in the comments section of the video on facebook. In fact, one of the popular Tamil meme templates featuring Vijay in Mersal film in which he says "Enna da panni vechu irrukeenga" (What have you done?) could be the apt reaction for the Chinese man's rendition.
