Similarly, two brothers from Vendôme in France took up gardening. The surprising part is, when they were making their makeshift den in garden, they stumbled upon gold worth around £70,000 (Rs 64.7 lakhs).
The brothers told that they went to the spare room to get some old sheets but that’s when they spotted two ‘fairly heavy objects’ falling out of it. Initially, they did not pay attention to it. When, they narrated this incident to their father, he asked them to fetch it.
Upon inspecting it closely, his father thought these objects could be knife holders that belonged to his mother.
Much to everyone’s surprise the objects turned out to be solid gold bars weighing around 1 kg per piece. A printed copy of the purchase had details about those gold bars.
It turns out that it was bought by the boys’ late grandmother back in 1967. According to a BBC report, the gold bars are now listed on the Rouillac Auctioneers website and have been valued at around €40,000 each.
"We are going to wait for the price of gold to rise a little more. They could get at least 100,000 euros," said auctioneer Philippe Rouillac.
