Wipro To Take 'Bold Steps'.. Growth To Be Priority, Says CEO; Is This A Concern For Employees? Report!
Home > News Shots > Business newsDuring the recent annual general meeting of Wipro, the newly appointed chief executive officer (CEO) Thierry Delaporte, said that profitable growth would be the priority under his leadership.
Further in his conversation to company's shareholders, Delaporte stated that Wipro will make "bold bets" in the financial year and will also put out straight goals for the company's growth. With these accelerating decisions and action, the company will be able to deliver long-term sustainable growth in the interest of its shareholders, Delaporte said.
Highlitening about the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had; the CEO stated that, it had a severe impact on businesses so the senior management of the company, including Wipro Chairman Rishad Premji, was currently finalising a plan to boost revenue across service lines.
Meanwhile, Rishad Premji informed that the next few months would be critical for the company as it would introduce and settle in the new ways of working to provide impeccable service to customers.
Further hoping on fresh business, Premji asserted that like all historical calamities, the COVID-19 outbreak would be soon over and a fresh wave of business would be unleashed. During his sharing of ideas to shareholders, Premji said the company had successfully triggered its continuity plan and had settled well in its new way of working. The firm will now focus on delivering impeccable service to the company's customers.
Amid all the crisis during the pandemic, the company confirmed that no plans to lay off employees. Even Premji gave assurance that the safety and well-being of its employees were paramount to the company.
Meanwhile, the new CEO, Delaporte, took over on July 6. He has been appointed as the company CEO for five years till July 5, 2025. While, Rishad Premji, had taken charge as Wipro Chairman in July last year.
