Good News! US Embassies in India All Set To Accept Applications for Visa Categories: Check Details
Home > News Shots > Business newsAs a sigh of relief to people who are waiting to leave the country, United States embassies in India will accept drop box applications for certain visa categories, which also includes renewals for H-1B and L-1 visas that fall under the immigration ban.
According to an Economic Times report, a notification on the same states that; H-1B and L-1 employees who are applying for the same role in the same organisation are eligible to apply under the revised guidelines. While other applicants who meet a certain criteria would also qualify to apply.
This good news came a month after, Trump on June 22 signed a Presidential Proclamation temporarily suspending the issue of new non-immigrant work permits till the end of 2020. This move was taken in a bid to protect American jobs amid the pandemic.
The notification states that US embassies will also accept renewal applications for F, M and J visa renewals. The priority will remain processing student visa applications, embassies started accepting in mid-August. Currently, routine immigrant and non-immigrant visa processing is still not available.
Not just the US even Canada has issued updated guidelines for students, who are scheduled to study in the country this year. The good news for students is that those who have enrolled in a Canadian program between 8-12 months can complete their entire program online and still be eligible for a work permit.
However, study permit applications would have to be submitted by September 15, 2020 to be eligible for these updated measures.
