A few days post India’s imposition of a ban on 59 Chinese applications, which included widely used apps including Cam Scanner, WeChat and TikTok among the others, the Chief Executive of TikTok addressed its Indian employees.

Kevin Mayer, CEO TikTok, through a short-video platform has addressed those working with the company to comply while the company addresses the government’s concerns. He said that this unfortunate challenge will be navigated.

India’s major concern over Chinese apps was cited as data privacy security. This has had a great impact over TikTok as the application has its second largest market in India, after China. Around 200 million users of TikTok were Indians.

“TikTok continues to comply with all data privacy and security requirements under Indian law and places the highest importance on user privacy and integrity,” said Mayer. Further he said "Our creator managers are actively engaging with our top creators to reassure them of our efforts and updates about path forward.”

He added that hundreds of millions of users enjoy the creative works of artists, storytellers, educators, and performers; who are currently disabled from accessing the platform.

“Our employees are our biggest strength, and their well-being is our topmost priority. We have also assured more than 2,000 strong workforce that we will do everything in our power to restore the positive experiences and opportunities that they can be proud of,” he said.
