After firing, these Companies help Employees to get Job in Other Places!
Home > News Shots > Business newsWhile many companies are firing their employees, some are also helping them to find new jobs. Swiggy serves as a case in point. The hiring team of Swiggy first prepared documents to fire 1,100 people and is now engaged in finding jobs to those who have been fired.
“Employees can look for opportunities online but we are able to garner a larger surface area to place these candidates,” the vice president of human resources at Swiggy, Girish Menon told ET.
Companies such as Uber India, Oyo, Cure. Fit, ShareChat, LendingKart, Zomato, Makemytrip and Airbnb alone account for 5,000 layoffs. Revenue has completely dried up especially in tourism and hospitality sector.
The silver lining is, some of the companies are using their resources and partnering with outplacement agencies to ensure that these employees are hired by other companies.
“Layoffs are a big story, but companies are hiring too,” Joel Paul, general manager- India, RiseSmart told ET. The company has partnered with Swiggy and Airbnb among other companies to offer outplacement services. The move has provided some relief to employees who have lost their jobs.
Zomato has reportedly built a talent directory of laid off employees in order to help employees understand their area of expertise and the roles they played at the company.
A 27- year- old who lost her job at a Gurgaon- based- startup told ET that the market is bad and landing into another job might be difficult. However, “the only consolation is instead of shutting doors completely, you can still talk to someone at the place where you used to work and hope for better times,” she said.
These efforts made by companies and the new job openings prove that it's not all gloom and doom in the job market.
