Earlier, it was announced that Bank Employees who were affiliated to All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) and the Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI) will go on a 24-hour strike today (October 22) against the issues concerning the merger of PSU (Public Sector Undertakings) banks.

However, according to the latest reports, a majority of ATMs and branches of State Bank of India (SBI) are likely to remain open today. As per LiveMint, one of the SBI union leaders told that they are not involving themselves in the strike and services will be normal.

A statement from Joydeb Dasgupta, Bank Employees Federation of India leader told that SBI employees might not participate in the strike but offer only "Moral Support".  It is also said that SBI employees who are attached to AIBEA of BEFI might sit outside their offices to participate in the strike.

Though the reports suggest that Regional Rural Banks and cooperative banks won’t be affected by the strike, the following banks are likely to be affected by the bank strike.

Bank of Baroda, Bank of Maharashtra, Oriental Bank of Commerce and Syndicate Bank

As per the latest report from NDTV, banking services across the nation have been affected due to the 24-hour bank strike.
