Popular Electronics company in Chennai Shut down Plant after Employees Test Positive for COVID-19!
Home > News Shots > Business newsThe Nokia plant located at Sriperumbudur near Chennai shut down last week after some employees tested positive for COVID19. The company did not disclose the number of people who have tested positive but made announcement about the shutdown of the telecoms gear manufacturing plant on Tuesday. NDTV cited a source who revealed that there were at least 42 employees who tested positive.
The factory had resumed operations in a phased and restricted manner a few weeks ago, after being under a strict lockdown for months. The company told the media that it has been taking precautionary measures and implemented social distancing and incorporated changes to canteen facilities.
"We hope to resume operations soon at a restricted level with skeletal staff strength," Nokia added.
Last week, Chinese smartphone maker Oppo too suspended operations at the outskirts of Delhi after over nine of its employees tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
