Nooyi had been the CEO for 12 years now. She will reportedly step down in October. Nooyi reportedly told that 'she was especially proud of the great work' PepsiCo has done in India, despite the struggles it has faced.

Reportedly, Nooyi will be succeeded by Ramon Laguarta. Nooyi was born in Chennai and did her schooling in Madras Christian School. She followed it up with Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta after which she left to the US. She even got a scholarship to study at the Yale School of Management.

Nooyi released an email statement after the company's announcement in which she said, "I’m especially proud of the great work we’ve done in India to transform our portfolio to include more nutritious products, working with and supporting thousands of Indian farmers, and providing an inclusive workplace in which our associates in India can bring their whole selves to work every day. That will not change."
