Central government is planning to cap the commission earned on rides by taxi service apps like Ola and Uber to a maximum of 10% of the total fare, reports the Economic Times.

Currently, the firms are collecting 20%. Now it will be decreased to 10% and the driver will get 90%.

Regarding cancellation issues, the guideline suggests a penalty of 10-50% of the total fare not exceeding Rs. 100. It will be charged if a passenger cancels a ride for no reason.

A maximum number of cancellations will be set for a driver for a week. They are also looking to make a female only pool option and a Rs.5 lakh insurance cover for riders.
