Daimler AG often referred to as Mercedes plans to execute a new cost saving programme. The company’s Chief Executive Officer, Ola Kaellenius said that they are looking to cut 10,000 jobs through 2025.

Those who would be laid off from the company are expected to hold positions in the research and development according to Automobilwoche magazine. The company in November 2019 announced that it will shed 10,000 people through 2022. This move was expected to save 1.4 billion euro.

“We’ve only communicated one number, and that’s the 1.4 billion euro in savings we’re targeting,” head of communications at the automaker, Joerg Howe, told Bloomberg News. “Anything else is speculation on behalf of Automobilwoche.”

Automobilwoche also said that Volkswagen AG will move its commercial vehicles output to Poland in order to cut 5,000 staffs at Germany.
