As most of the international companies are extending their work from home amid the pandemic, leading publicly traded software and services company Zensar Technologies have said that employees can continue to work remotely in the long term, amid the current work-from-home policy.

According to Economic TImes report, the Pune-headquartered IT services firm which is part of the RPG Group, announced that its entire sales department staff would permanently work remotely across its group companies while other employees would work from home for two weeks a month.

Currently, Zensar is among the first to decide for a structure focused more on working remotely. “Work from anywhere is allowing us to reimagine how we source talent,” said Vivek Ranjan, CHRO, Zensar.

“We were working on a model where people could work remotely, and like a lot of other things, Covid-19 accelerated the adoption of the model,” Ranjan added.

Past few months, Zensar Technologies has hired more than 100 people from towns like Jabalpur, Guntur and Nashik to onboarded them remotely. Giving future plans on the hiring process, Ranjan said that hiring in small towns would open up the talent pool further as it would allow them to hire women or people with special needs, so that they don't have to leave home or move to another city for work, Economic Times further reported.

"Not all employees would work from home permanently, but the ability to work from anywhere and hiring employees at remote locations would continue," Ranjan  also stated. Zensar is currently using its digital platforms to ensure that work from anywhere is implemented smoothly, so that initiatives to learn and develop programs can be implemented.

Amid the global crisis, most of the IT firms are shifting to a hybrid model over time. Giving his views on it, Harshvendra Soin, Global Chief People Officer and Head of Marketing, Tech Mahindra said, "Covid-19 has resulted in digitization of offices, leading to flexible and agile workspaces. We believe a hybrid work model – mix of physical and remote working, will evolve post-pandemic…"

“In the long-term, we expect around 25-30 percent associates continuing to work from home, on an ongoing basis,” he said. In the same way, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) announced earlier that it expected 75 percent of its employees to be working remotely by 2025.
