Infosys on a Big Drive to HIRE 12,000 New Employees amid Pandemic: Details
Home > News Shots > Business newsIT Giant Infosys Ltd announced that it will be hiring 12,000 American employees over the next couple of years in order to create a strong workforce in US. The step is being taken in order to improve local hiring in the US.
According to Livemint’s report, “in 2017, Infosys committed to hiring 10,000 American workers over two years and has exceeded that goal by creating 13,000 jobs in the US to date. Through this expanded commitment, Infosys will hire an additional 12,000 workers by 2022 across a variety of roles.”
“Our commitment to creating 12,000 new American jobs comes at a critical moment as the covid-19 pandemic has created economic turmoil," Ravi Kumar the President of Infosys told media.
The company is planning to specifically target experienced professionals in the field but at the same time also hire graduates from major universities and colleges to create a strong workforce.
“Infosys has been intensely focused on creating jobs in the US for the past three years, and I am proud that this new commitment to hire 12,000 American workers by 2022 expands on that previous initiative," said Salil Parekh, CEO, Infosys. “We are excited to grow our presence in the U.S. as the digital transformation journeys of our clients accelerate," he added.
This is being seen as a major move especially given the current restrictions on the H1B1 visa. Most of the Indian IT firms are attempting to increase local hiring by reducing their dependencies on H-1B visa workers.
“We will bring a specific focus on building pathways for those who have been impacted by the economic downturn and look forward to bringing on board individuals without traditional four-year degrees," added Kumar.
