'IT Companies Shift Base from Chennai to Another City of Tamil Nadu' - Details
Home > News Shots > Business newsLatest Media reports have highlighted that several Chennai- based IT companies are planning to shift their base from Chennai to other parts of Tamil Nadu. The rise in rent amount and increase in administrative cost are likely to be the reasons behind the move. Many IT companies from Chennai are shifting to Trichy, Navalpattu.
Various firms are shifting to Navalpattu in Trichy. An IT park was launched at Navalpattu near Trichy in 2010. It was built on 147.61 acres of land. The park did not attract a lot of companies since many of them refused to shift their base to this IT park. They cited reasons such as lack of road facilities and good transportation network for busses. As a result, very few companies shifted to this park.
However, ever since the road from Trichy- Pudukottai National Highway to Navalpattu was renovated, the IT park started attracting more companies. Moreover, the IT Park has undergone infrastructural upgradation.
Since the government has been easing lockdown restrictions over the past few weeks if not months, many companies are reportedly planning to shift to the Navalpattu IT park so that they can undertake cost reduction by cutting down on rent and administrative charges. The IT park has already received numerous applications.
“The existing building has 59,960 sq.ft. of built-up space.IT and IT-enabled services companies have been asking for more built-up space in the IT Park. In all probability, the entire built-up space in the new building will be occupied once it is ready, an ELCOT official said. The sanction order for creation of additional built-up space was issued last year, and the design for the six-storeyed building as a ground plus five-floor structure was also readied,” The Hindu Business Line reported.
It will also open up new job opportunities for the local community in Navalpattu and Trichy.
