Home > News Shots > Business newsAs work from home has become the new normal amid pandemic, software maker HCL Technologies shared a good news for employees especially the ones who stay far from home.
HCL Technologies is planning to increase headcount in towns such as Lucknow, Nagpur, Madurai, Vijaywada, in the next 2-3 years.
As per an Economic Times report, HCL already has 10,000 employees in these cities and the expansion to these places will consist of people moving back to their hometowns and new hirings.
Meanwhile, CEO C Vijayakumar said that "people felt safer close to their families in their hometowns. Also, opening up delivery centres in small towns is part of the company’s location derisking strategy which has been in place since 2016."
Currently, more than 90 percent of IT employees have been working from home since the Covid-19 pandemic started. As many officers were shut due to the pandemic, employees shifted back to their hometowns and many don't hope to come back.
HCL is not the only company that plans to expand its workforce despite the recession. Even Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has its campus placement plans intact, ET further reported.
