Google To Offer 100,000 Scholarships For New Online Certificates Programs: Check For More Details!
Home > News Shots > Business newsTechnology giant Google announced three new online certificate programs which are developed solely by Google and will take approximately three to six months to complete.
The online certificate programs will cater to three areas which includes data analytics, project management and user experience design. As per CNBC news report, the certificates are created and taught by Google employees, and do not require a college degree. This program can be completed in three to six months and are offered through the online learning platform Coursera.
The best part about this program is - Google says it will consider all of its certificates as the equivalent of a four-year college degree for related roles at the company.
“This is not revenue-generating for Google. There’s a small cost from the Coursera platform itself — the current pricing is $49 a month — but we want to ensure that anyone who wants to have this opportunity, can have it," said Google vice president, Lisa Gevelber. She leads Grow with Google and Google for Startups and serves as the company’s Americas chief marketing officer.
Meanwhile, media reports further suggest that Google has committed to funding 100,000 need-based scholarships for individuals who are enrolled in any of these career certificate programs and will be awarding over $10 million in grants to YWCA, NPower and JFF.
These three are nonprofits that partner with Google to provide workforce development to women, veterans and underrepresented Americans, CNBC further reports.
This big announcement by Google comes at the time when the United States is struggling to cope with historically high unemployment levels. In 2018, Google launched a similar certificate program for those interested in IT.
