After the fight which erupted in the India-China border, India banning 59 Chinese applications on Monday was a strong move in the online space.

Chinese applications including Cam Scanner, TikTok, Share it, and Shein, among 55 others were banned. These happen to be very popular applications used by Indians. China responded to this action taken by the Indian government by mentioning that this move could be a breach of Word Trade Organisation (WTO) Rules. Hence the country urged India to encourage an open and fair business environment.

In a statement, Ji Rong, spokesperton at the Chinese embassy present in Delhi said, "India's measure selectively and discriminatorily aims at certain Chinese apps on ambiguous and far-fetched grounds, runs against fair and transparent procedure requirements, abuses national security exceptions and (is suspected of) violating WTO rules.” He further added that this ban will affect Indians as many will lose their jobs.

He urged the Indian government in New Delhi to treat all investments and businesses fairly.
