Amazon along with Global Optimism recently announced that Indian IT Giant, Infosys, became the latest signatory to The Climate Pledge by making a commitment to meet the Paris Agreement 10 years before the deadline.

The Climate Pledge encourages new signatories to be net-zero carbos across their businesses a decade ahead of the Paris Accord’s goal of 2050.

Infosys has reportedly agreed to follow few steps in order to meet the Paris Agreement Goals.

Measuring and reporting the greenhouse gas emissions made by the firm, implementing decarbonization strategies, reducing material usage, shifting to renewable energy, strategies to eliminate carbon emissions and neutralize remaining emissions are some of the measures the company has agreed to implement.

“Infosys is showing bold leadership by signing up to The Climate Pledge and committing to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement ten years early,” said Jeff Bezos, Amazon founder and CEO.

“When significant companies like Infosys join The Climate Pledge, they send an important signal to the market that it’s time to invest in low carbon products and services,” he added.

“At Infosys, we recognized climate change as a serious threat to our planet early on, and realized our responsibility as a corporate institution to mitigate its impact by taking concrete steps,” Salil Parekh, CEO and MD, Infosys told the media.

He also highlighted that the company committed to climate action almost a decade ago and since then they have been taking it into consideration while making decisions as on organization.
