Kanakam Kaamini Kalaham is a family satire directed by Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval. The film stars Nivin Pauly, Grace Antony, and Vinay Fort in the lead roles.

Kanakam Kaamini Kalaham revolves around a jewelry theft and the satirical elements behind it. Pavithran (Nivin) and Haripriya (Grace) are married couples who are struggling with their personal and professional life. When Pavithran loses Haripriya’s earrings, to compensate for it, he deceives her by buying a fake set of earrings. On knowing this, Haripriya’s brother asks her for the earrings as financial aid. In the meantime, to avoid Haripriya from knowing the reality behind the fake gold, Pavithran decides to take Haripriya on a tour to Munnar and stay at Hotel Hilltop. There he plans to hide the jewelry without Haripriya’s knowledge, but soon they realize the earrings are stolen for real. What happens next and the quest behind who stole the ring forms the rest of the plot.

Kanakam Kaamini Kalaham is a family satire that deals with various characters in different states of mind, but linked their inane behaviour. The film is filled with wits and dramatic elements, keeping the layer of satire on top, and is a different experience.

Kanakam Kaamini Kalaham has been densely dipped into the witty part, but falls apart when it comes to the story and attention. The film has its great moments and great comic timing by the actors, but the waferthin story makes it weak.

After a short gap, Nivin Pauly stars again in a full-fledged comic entertainer. Being the role he aces the most, Nivin has done a very neat job. Grace Antony as Haripriya was amazing. She was active and so befitting to the role. She perfectly maintained the elegant and emotional balance of the character. Another star of this film is Jaffer Idukki. He is the pillar of the second half. His perfect comic timing and witty moments will definitely crack you up. Vinay Forrt as Joby was terrific from start to end. Towards the end, Vinay Forrt imparts the character's pressure to the audience in the most wittiest manner.

Vinod Illampally’s cinematography works well, especially towards the climax. The ending portions take you to the atmosphere where you are among this crazy commotion and complete madness.

Written and directed by Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval, Kanakam Kaamini Kalaham climbs up on wits and humour but misses out when it comes to the engagement. The film being satirical cannot be demanded to have a serious or cinematic plot, but for its genre, this one fails to grab your attention.

The film has a great cast and some marvelous performances, but dawdles till the end waiting to reach the climax somehow.

Verdict: Kanakam Kaamini Kalaham is watchable for the witty characterization and dialogues.
