'Honey Bee 2: Celebrations' is the sequel to the 2013 outright entertainer 'Honey Bee: Its Tripping', directed by Lal Jr. and produced by actor Lal. Honey Bee 1 was a mixture of youthfulness, drinks, love, family bonding, henchmen and above all friendship. Honey Bee 2 also has all these ingredients in it and is about the marriage of Sebastian (Asif Ali) with Angel (Bhavana) who had eloped in the first part.
Apart from Asif Ali, Bhavana, Lal, Baburaj, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu and Suresh Krishna who played pivotal roles in the first edition, Sreenivasan and Lena also appear as important characters in Honey Bee 2. The screenplay written by Jean Paul Lal (Lal Jr.) and SGB Kottarakkara successfully align itself and relate with the prequel. The first half which was packed with humor entertains the youth and also has space for clean jokes. The dragging, melodramatic second half loses the grip and becomes repetitive and predictable.
Comparisons with the prequel are indispensable when you make a sequel and the biggest positive about the performances in this film is that every actor has successfully taken off from where they left in the first part. The performances by Lal, Sreenath Bhasi, Baburaj, Balu, Suresh Krishna, Asif Ali and Bhavana are good and likable. Sreenivasan, Lena and Ganapathy convincingly gel in with their characters.
The cinematography by Alby and edits by Ratheesh Raj make the movie visually beautiful and colorful, but the music by Deepak Dev is not super catchy and lacks the extra element.
