We had reported yesterday that director P. Vasu is all set to direct the Kannada sequel 'Apthamitra-2'. 'Apthamitra' was a Chandramukhi remake in Kannada which went on to become a blockbuster and that has led the makers to work on the sequel. Today, on occasion of late superstar Dr. Vishnuvardhan's birthday, producer Ramesh Yadav confirmed the news and officially announced the film. In an exclusive interview with the producer Ramesh Yadav, this is what he had to say about 'Apthamitra-2'.
"On account of late Kannada Superstar Vishnuvardhan's birthday today (Sep18th), I'm launching my new movie Apthamitra-2. The earlier version Apthamithra (2004) was a big blockbuster starring Vishnuvardhan, Ramesh Arvind, Soundarya, directed by P.Vasu. After 13 years, I'm starting a new movie with the same title, but it's not a sequel, but a remake of Tamil SuperHit Aranmanai directed by Sundar C. It won't be a scene by the scene remake, but inspired by the core story of Aranmanai as I have brought the Kannada rights.
The cast and crew will be announced soon. Apthamithra-2 is my 21st production, and I have distributed more than 50 Tamil films in Karnataka, from Aranmanai Kili to Vaaranam Ayiram."
