Jack Reacher’s second outing based on Lee Child’s Never Go Back is directed by Edward Zwick. With Tom Cruise playing the titular character along with Cobie Smulders and Danika Yarosh in other important roles, this is how the film played out:
 

What is it about?
The film follows retired Military Police Major Reacher, who chooses to help his successor, Major Turner (Cobie Smulders) who gets framed for espionage. It’s the same rogue military personnel Vs the right ones skeletally.
 

What makes up the film?

The film has the usual chase/escape action between the good and the bad guys. That, we see, is topped with Tom’s built up action sequences and snappy punch lines. Additional tracks include a girl named Sam who could be Reacher’s daughter and he’s obliged to protect her. But that’s about all that makes up the film.
 

What works?
The predictable chase,rescue,escape,expose and action might still work if one is content enough with the standard formula. The performance of the main cast including that of young Danika Yarosh who plays the little girl is pleasing and subtly charming. The sequence involving her is probably the only small addition to the templated storyline and it kind of works.
 

What doesn't work?

The failure to offer something different on the paper itself! But it’s based on a book one might say. Well, wrong choice! Very little in the film offers the excitement which was expected. The engagement is average which may or may not be negative depending upon the mood and motive of the viewer going to watch the film.

Overall Jack Reacher : Never Go back is a fitment with the usual nuts and bolts sans any amount of greasing. An average view if not anything lesser.
