Bairavaa released on 12th January to a massive opening day collection. The film is being enjoyed by Vijay's fans worldwide.

 

The running time of the film was 2 hours and 48 minutes. Now, after 2 days since release, the team has trimmed the film by 6 minutes and the running time is now reduced to 2 hours and 42 minutes. One minute is reduced in the first half and 5 minutes in the second half. The majority response from critics and fans in social media was about the length of the second half and it looks like the team has taken the necessary action to make the movie crisper.

While Superstar Rajnikanth's Kabali and Vijay's Theri released in 306 and 200 theaters respectively in Kerala, sources say that Bairavaa has been scheduled to release only in 70 or less number of screens. The ongoing strike in Malayalam film industry has hit the Vijay movie as normally it would have got more number of theaters (a minimum of 180) there.

 

The distributors have decided not to screen Bairavaa in the theaters that come under the Exhibitors Federation. The movie will be released in multiplexes, Government and B-class theaters. According to sources, if any theater owner from the Federation wishes to screen Bairavaa, he would have to sign an agreement that says that he agrees with the existing revenue division.

 

Not releasing Bairavaa in A-class theaters would be a big blow for Exhibitors Federation as Vijay movies normally have great opening collections there

It is a well-known fact that Trisha is an ambassador for PETA. People from Tamil Nadu who are against PETA and support Jallikattu, stopped her from shooting at Karaikudi for her next flick, Garjanai. Trisha was immensely agitated after she found it difficult to leave the shooting spot.

“You have all gathered here based on the request of an actor named Simbu. But today, I am going to talk as a Tamilian and not as an actor. My mother tongue gave me an identity to me. Tamil is one of the oldest languages in the world and it very special. Peacock is the National Bird of India as it considered as a special bird. I am told that once Anna (C. N. Annadurai) had raised his voice on why is Tamil not selected as India’s National languages as it is very special too. He was replied back saying since Hindi is the most spoken language throughout India, it has been selected as our National language. For which Anna had said, Crow is one bird that you could find throughout India and why is that Peacock has been chosen as India’s National Bird? Tamil is such an exceptional language, and I am very proud and happy to say it’s my mother tongue. I knew about Tamil’s importance and its culture since I came from a family that is so patriotic about Tamil. I have scored 99 and 100 in Tamil till my 5th grade. That is when I got to know the importance of Jallikattu. I have not addressed any issues before; maybe I was not so matured before. But I felt that if I don’t talk today, then when will I? First I need to say something about this Jallikattu issue. The biggest plus and minus of all Tamilians is that we forgive and forget everything very easily. We have let go of all kind of things thus far. But how could someone come and erode our culture and tradition that is so old? Should we keep quite even for this? When a soldier dies in Jammu and Kashmir, he is addressed as Indian soldier but whereas when a fisherman is killed in Sri Lanka, he is addressed as a Tamil fisherman by the press. Why is that discrimination?"

Vijay's Bairavaa released yesterday (12th January) and is doing huge business at the box office. We got in touch with Mr. Meenakshi Sundaram (Vice President of Mayajaal Multiplex) to know about the response for this Vijay starrer.

 

He said, "Bairavaa response is extraordinary. All the shows for the next two days are houseful and packed. The film's opening has been too good. The audience seems to enjoy the first half, but there might be a need for cutting down of few scenes in the second half, as there are a few lags here and there. If that is done, the audience will enjoy the film much more. Though the reviews are mixed, the opening weekend collection will still remain solid. Bairavaa is a perfect Pongal festival movie."

 

It looks like the film will make merry at the box office

As we are just very a few hours away from witnessing Ilayathalapathy Vijay's Bairavaa, the theaters screening Bairavaa has taken everyone by surprise.

 

A few theaters in Chengalpet region like GK Cinemas and Rohini Silver Screens have opened midnight 1 am shows for this Bharathan directorial. The tickets got sold out in a minute's time. The buzz for the film has been immense and these midnight shows tell us that why Vijay is a great star.

 

Other theaters like SK Marlen, Vigneshwara theater, have also opened up the ticket sales for 1 am show. Few more other important theaters are expected to open bookings for the midnight show in few minutes.

 

It should be noted that the premiere shows of Bairavaa have already started in countries like Sri Lanka and Singapore. We are just three hours away from witnessing this Vijay starrer.

Vijay Sethupathi's Puriyaatha Puthir, which was scheduled to release on the 13th of January, for the Pongal festival is now unfortunately postponed.

So, for this Pongal, there will be only two Tamil releases, Vijay's Bairavaa and Parthiban's Koditta Idangalai Nirappuga.

As we all know, director Ameer is currently making his next film, Santhana Devan starring brothers, Arya and Sathya and also himself. The film’s music is to be composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and it is said to be about Jallikattu which is expected to come out this year.

 

The team held a press meet today (13th Jan) in which there were a number of revelations. Ameer said that the movie was planned almost one year ago but it was pushed to a later date due to Arya’s commitments.

 

In a recent tweet, Arya had jokingly asked, ‘What is Jallikattu’ when questioned about his take on the Jallikattu issue in Tamil Nadu. There was a major rage from the general public, following this.

 

At the press meet, the Raja Rani actor addressed this issue by saying, ‘’Nobody cares about the good things I spoke about Jallikattu before and after the controversy. I had jokingly asked that and people just decided to make use of it to make news’’. He also added, ‘’We are not doing Santhana Devan just because of the hype now. It has always been a dream for me to work with Ameer sir.’

As we all know, Aamir Khan's Dangal has been getting rave reviews and positive feedback from the audience, which has directly influenced the film's box office collection.

 

The film, which got 300 crores in its 13th day, is now marching towards the 350 crore mark. Aamir Khan creates new records at the box office, by beating his own previous best. His film with A.R.Murugadoss, Ghajini was the first 100 crore Bollywood film, while 3 Idiots was the first film to enter the 200 crore club. PK's final collection was around 340 crores, but looks like Dangal will overtake PK. Yes, this Nitesh Tiwari directorial has apparently grossed 340 crores now and is marching towards the 350 Crore club.

 

If this huge feat is achieved, Dangal will become the first Bollywood film to collect 350 crores. Its Dangal show all the way!
