The shooting of Thala Ajith’s untitled film resumed in Chennai a couple of days ago. Few fight scenes are being shot currently. A set worth 25lakhs has been erected in outskirts of Chennai.  AK 57 team will start shooting in that massive set from this Monday, 30th January. The first look poster of the film is expected to be released very soon.

This project is still untitled, and we are told that the makers are looking for a title that starts with the letter ‘V'. Apparently, the title ‘Vivegam’ seems to be the 1st option at the moment, and if the team doesn’t find a more suitable title to the script, they might very well go with this.

Earlier in the day, we had disclosed the complete finalized cast and crew details of Vijay’s upcoming 61st film directed by Atlee. Now we have another exciting news for all Vijay fans.

Yes, it looks like Vijay 61 will be a semi-period script. We have been informed that one portion of the film is expected to be with the backdrop of 1980s period. That episode will supposedly take place in Madurai. It must be noted that Vijay has sported a different look for the film with a thick mush and a beard.

As reported by us, the shooting for the film is likely to begin from next week on the 1st of February in Chennai. The 1st schedule is expected to be shot in places like airport, Binny Mills and a popular studio in Chennai.

The latest hot topic in town, besides of course Jallikattu, is the collaboration of director AR Murugadoss with Ilayathalapathy Vijay. There are reports that Lyca Productions would be bankrolling this venture which could be Vijay’s 62.

The combo of Murugadoss-Vijay has given such quality content in the form of Thupakki and Kaththi in the past that the audiences are waiting for them to team up once again.

We got in touch with director AR Murugadoss and this is what he had to say, “We are in a very early stage of discussion. Talks are going on but it is too early to discuss or reveal anything”.

Our sources close to Vijay 61 camp have informed us that the cast and technical team have been firmed up. Ostensibly, AR Rahman has finally given his nod to compose the music for the project despite being busy with multiple projects. Antony Ruben will handle the cuts while GK Vishnu will be the man behind the camera and the art department will be headed by Muthuraj for this film directed by Atlee. Wow, what a formidable technical team!

This big team of technicians will be of great support to the fascinating cast list. Apart from Vijay, the cast list includes names like Jyothika, Samantha, Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, Vadivelu, SJ Suriya, Kovai Sarala and Sathyan.

This team reminds us of the popular say, ‘ippadai thorkin eppadai vellum’, which roughly translated as 'which team could possibly win if this team loses?'

Anjaneya marked Thala Ajith's first film as a cop in Tamil cinema. But how many of you know that Anjaneya was not supposed to be Ajith's first cop film?

This film was directed by Nanda Periyasami, who in his official Facebook account posted, "Not many know about this. My very first directorial was titled Mahaa, which had Thala Ajith in the lead role. We shot for eight days, but he got injured during a stunt sequence. He couldn't continue to act due to this, and this resulted in a difference of opinion with the film's producer Chakravarthy. As a result, the film was stopped.

The film had an experienced crew including cinematographer Jeeva, lyricist Vairamuthu, music director Harris Jayaraj, stunt director Kanal Kannan, art director Thotta Tharani and others.

Even at this moment, I am hurt when I think about it. Had this movie been my debut, my career graph would have been entirely different. Mahaa was the first film in which Thala sported the getup of a police man."

Eventually, Nanda Periyasami's first debut film became 'Oru Kallooriyin Kadhai' which had Arya and Sonia Agarwal in lead roles.

Suriya’s upcoming movie Si3 directed by Hari gets a new release date now. This cop film which was previously planned to release tomorrow, 26th January was pushed because of Jallikattu protest.

The team has now come up with another release date. Yes, Si3 will finally hit the screens on the 9th February. Jayam Ravi’s Bogan will also be hitting the screens on the same date. It must be noted that both Bogan and Si3 were initially set to clash for Christmas 2016.

Earlier in the day, we had clarified about a viral obscene video spreading all over the internet featuring a guy who people claimed as music director Anirudh.

We had clarified that it was not Anirudh and someone who looks like him. Anirudh had also reinforced what we said and has shared Behindwoods’ news and clarified that he is no way connected to that video.

Anirudh’s tweet reads as, “People who are doing this, please get a life and an eye-checkup.”

Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru is still running in the theatres and the young talented director Karthick Naren is ready with his next. This film has been titled as ‘Naragasooran,' with the tagline “the tale of a fallen demon.”

He made this important announcement through Facebook by posting, “ Project no.2 :) ... Extremely intense suspense drama which will push the envelope of storytelling set by #D16 & as of now we cant reveal anything more than the title. Will commence shooting from mid 2017. More updates soon! Not just angels, demons have a fallen side too”

Going by this statement from Karthick looks like we will be witnessing one intense suspense thriller from the D16 team. Cast and crew details are expected to be revealed in the coming days.

The glimpse of Kaatru Veliyidai was released yesterday (26th January), which went viral on the social media. Just three magical shots with the soulful score from Rahman were enough to create a vibe among the youngsters.

Earlier the film was touted to be a March release, but now the team has officially confirmed that this Mani Ratnam directorial will hit the screens on the 7th of April. The film will be released by Sri Thenandal Films, which has veteran actress K.P.A.C.Lalitha, Shraddha Srinath, Rukmini Vijaykumar, Delhi Ganesh, RJ Balaji playing important roles. Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari play the main leads.

Meanwhile, the first single of Kaatru Veliyidai is all set to release on the 2nd of February.

Kamal Haasan addressed a press meet today (24th Jan) wherein he had expressed his feelings about yesterday’s unfortunate incident when a video footage of policemen keeping fire to an auto rickshaw went viral.

Kamal states, “I don’t know, I am shocked and I hope some kind of reasonable explanation is given which will calm us down. Because this will really scare a common man. He could become the victim of the arson or an arsonist himself. I only hope they are actors and not policemen, some actor like me wearing khakis!  I only hope they are not real policemen.

More people die in automobile accidents than jallikattu. We don’t ban driving or even the racing. So, should we stop racing because it is dangerous?

I am against any kind of ban, be it my film or my bull.  I was sitting here, crying hoarse for my film being banned for no reason at all. They said it’s an anti-Muslin film. It was NOT. Even then I shouted; if I had kept quiet then and shouted now, it makes me a coward. Now it makes me a sufferer who is remembering it when something else is happening to my people”.
