KADAI KUTTY SINGAM CAST & CREW
1 of 2
Production: 2D Entertainment
Cast: Bhanupriya, Karthi, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Sathyaraj, Sayyeshaa Saigal, Soori
Direction: Pandiraj
Screenplay: Pandiraj
Story: Pandiraj
Music: D Imman
Background score: D Imman
Cinematography: R Velraj

Sandakkari
Vocals: D Imman, Vandana Srinivasan
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

The song begins with a catchy rhythm using some typical village flavored thaarai thapattai, and flows right into a trademark Imman tune. As the track dribbles into the hook, there is a sweet orchestration of strings that makes an appearance. This stays for the rest of the song, supporting the rhythm. Imman and Vandana Srinivasan have rendered the song very well, and it looks like this will attract the rural audience pretty well.

Kaalai Theme
Vocals: Nivas, Sai Vignesh, Narayanan Ravishankar, Jithin Raj, Vignesh Narayanan, TS Sarath Santhosh
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

It is safe to say that this theme is sure to be enjoyed by audiences beyond B&C centers. The Kaalai Theme will be the pick of the album for many, due to its blistering pace and exciting use of the various instruments like the Nadhaswaram, trumpet, saxophone, Thavil, and other percussion instruments. With minimal lyrics for the chorus, the song attracts the listener well. This is a massy theme for Karthi, and it seems like it will lift the tone of the film.

Thandora Kannala
Vocals: VV Prasanna
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

When you hear about D Imman composing the music for a rural-based film, you definitely expect a tune like Thandora Kannala. Imman neatly plays to his strong points with this track, and uses a host of instruments and harmonies to keep the listener hooked. Yet again, he works on using the rhythm to the maximum utility as there is no compromise on the beats even though it is a romantic number. VV Prasanna's immaculate rendition works well for the song.

Vaa Jikki
Vocals: D Imman
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

Every Imman album will consist of that one quirky track, and Vaa Jikki is exhibit-A from Kadaikutty Singam. Interestingly, he has infused the mooing of cows along with the other instruments. Imman's powerful vocals add some value to the track, but whether this song will work in the larger picture, is debatable.

Sengathire
Vocals: Pradeep Kumar
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

Sengathire feels like the track that will be lifting the intensity of the film's conflict. Pradeep Kumar and Yugabharathi have played their parts very well in this song. The composition is vehement, and it definitely makes you connect to the core of the film. Again, there is no compromise on the quality of orchestration. Overall, Sengathire might work for the audience that looks for the depth, but we'll have to wait and watch how it reaches the commercial audience.

Verdict: Kadaikutty Singam is an album with high rural values but lacks the punch!
