Srushti Dange replaces Nikki Galrani in 1971:Beyond Borders

Mohanlal-Major Ravi team's film 1971: Beyond Borders is the much awaited Mohanlal release of 2017 which is about India-Bangladesh war in 1971.

Nikki Galrani was earlier announced as the female lead and now she has been replaced by Srushti Dange who is making her Mollywood debut with the film. It also marks Allu Sirish’s debut in Malayalam. Allu Sirish and Srushti Dange are featured as a Tamil couple in the film. Samuthirakani plays a wonderful role of a soldier in the film. Sujith Vaasudevan is the DoP.

Allu Sirish plays war tank operator, a real life one who had operated the tanks in the actual war in 1971. He is a Tamil speaking guy and the film is about his life. This is the first movie that has used original tanks in a war film. Tank chasing will be the highlight of the film. Till now only car or bike chases were seen in films. But for the first time, in this film, there will be tank chase which had apparently come out very well.

The filming of the first schedule of the movie which is the fourth installment to the Major Mahadevan series commenced on 1st November 2016 and was wrapped up on 27th November. Entire war portions have been done in Rajasthan by the team by erecting sets. Tanks were brought there and war sequences were shot there.

The next schedule of the movie started rolling in Kerala on January 8th at Ottappalam and then shifted to Perumbavoor, Ernakulam on 15th January 2017 where almost forty acres of land have been converted into a set that looks exactly like the Indo-Pak border having iron fences portraying the war atmosphere of 1971. Mohanlal has joined the set and the whole team is busy shooting many crucial scenes. Right now the unit is shooting a song sequence in Pollachi. 70% of the film is done and the team is upbeat about the progress.
