Lakshmy Ramakrishnan in an exclusive chat with behindwoods shares her thoughts on the jallikattu issue.
“I met the youngsters at Marina. It is the power and the spirit of the youth; it’s a movement, an uprising. I can’t say it’s just about jallikattu; I feel it’s a lot of pent up emotions which have found its outburst through jallikattu
I met the protesters and they are fighting sincerely with a lot of resolute. I had a small worry that what if their spirit, dedication and vigor should be misused by selfish forces. I still have that. If every youth there, has crystal clear clarity on what they are fighting for, there can’t be anything more than that.
Tamils are innocent, sentimental and emotional people. Hence my advice to youngsters is - please use your thinking, your individuality to address the issue. You decide whether it is right or wrong and don’t get diverted by selfish forces who might capitalize on your virtues".
