Veeram Malayalam movie teaser review

The teaser of director Jayaraj's epic historical drama 'Veeram' was unveiled on October 24th. The movie is an adaptation of William Shakespeare's play Macbeth and is the fifth addition to Jayaraj's series of films based on Navarasa.

The teaser makes it clear that the movie is set in the 13th century and tells the story of Chandu Chekavar, a warrior from North Malabar.

It begins with the introduction of the central character Chandu of Elanthalar Matam (Kunal Kapoor). A chekavar is a legendary character who engages in a combat representing a lord and the scenario shown in the trailer is the stage set for a combat. As the combat begins, the trailer fades into a narrative by Unniyarcha (Himarsha Venkatsamy) motivating Chandu to evolve into the master of martial arts.

The power-packed action sequences stuffed with traditional martial art Kalarippayattu, the colors and the soundtrack having an orchestral combination of traditional folk music takes one into 13th century North Malabar. The costumes, the body paints, and tattoos succeed in getting the fierce looks.

Apart from being a visual treat, the trailer also tells us that the film will be about the story of love, greed, betrayal, guilt and war. Kunal Kapoor's Kalarippayattu training has helped him transform physically and mentally into a Chekavar. Himarsha looks bold and sensuous, and the chemistry between her and Kunal is striking.

The film has been made with a budget of 35 crores and has some renowned international technicians like musician Jeff Rona and stunt choreographer Allan Poppleton in it.

Veeram promises to be a bold new version of Shakespeare's classic and the trailer gives a glimpse of it.
