CS Amudhan's Tamizh Padam 2, which has Shiva in the lead role, had a positive response in the opening weekend. The film was well received by both the fans as well as the celebrities. The film had spoofed a lot of moments and scenes from Tamil movies, Tamil Nadu politics as well as Hollywood movies and TV series.

Out of them, the teaser of the film had a spoof of the film Godfather, which was not there in the movie. Talking exclusively to Behindwoods, the editor of the film, TS Suresh said "the scene was removed because we thought it made the screenplay lag. Similarly, a few more scenes were cut down to prevent lag, which will be released on YouTube soon."

Despite the positive reviews, a lot of audience members felt that the item song post the interval was a lag. Addressing this, he said: "The team knew that the song would create a lag. We did it purposefully because we wanted to spoof the films that had item songs at unnecessary places. Even during the song, Kasturi is dancing in front while Shiva and Chethan will be working in the background. The song was placed intentionally to create lag."

CS Amudhan's second film, Tamizh Padam 2 released last week to some good response from the audience and critics alike. However, many had criticised him for being soft on the opposition party in Tamil Nadu. An audience of the film had tweeted: "While I just love Tamil Padam 2.0, I can't ignore the allegation that you are soft on DMK @csamudhan You have indeed been very kind towards DMK and the great SEYAL".

Responding to such allegations, CS Amudhan said:

1) There is no going soft or hard on anyone, I'm not a public prosecutor.

2) Pop-culture references especially visually identifiable ones have been employed wherever they helped take the story forward, that and no other criteria was used.

3) I had originally written a scene where Wasim Khan walked to a police jeep in white veshti and his shirt unbuttoned but cut it out as I was worried the first half was getting bloated. (With reference to Stalin's incident at the Assembly).

4) While I've repeatedly said that no political ideology dictated the content of TP2, if the allegation is that I've put my politics into my film..there is nothing wrong with it. That is completely my prerogative & inalienable right. Every filmmaker from Charlie Chaplin to Ranjith put their politics in their films. Can we move on now
