Trisha pulls it off with her performance in Kodi

Who could've done Mankatha better than Ajith Kumar? Vinayak Mahadev from Mankatha was one of the best anti -heroes of Tamil cinema in recent times. So was Thani Oruvan's Aravind Swamy. Both Ajith and Aravind Swamy tasted success while playing these distinct, lovable negative characters and this widens the scope for their performances . A protagonist has limitations because being good has a particular way. But to be bad, you can just be anything.

Likewise, Trisha has opted to do a negative role in her recent Diwali release Kodi. It is interesting to note that she has boldly made the move that not many heroines have done in the past. To name a few: Ramya Krishnan (Padayappa), Sriya Reddy (Thimiru) and Samantha (10 Endradhukulla) were some impacting negative shade performances. Trisha, who was previously more of the eye candy girl has gone badass with Dhanush's Kodi directed by Durai Senthilkumar.

It is a welcome change to Tamil cinema as it breaks the cliche that a heroine should just shake her leg for a song and is non-ambitious and doesn't have aspirations, unlike the hero. Kudos to Durai Senthilkumar on writing such a character!
