Pulimurugan theatre count comes down due to Oppam

Puli Murugan is definitely one of Mohanlal's most awaited movies and his die-hard fans have been eagerly waiting for it to hit the theaters on October 7.

The adventurous action film was shot at the splendid locations of Vietnam by director Vyshakh. The teaser of the movie raised the expectation to the next level as the stunts directed by Peter Hein were something Malayalam cinema had never seen before. The teaser also gave the fans a feeling that the combination of Mohanlal, the deadly Tiger, Kamalini Mukherjee, Shaji Kumar's cinematography and Gopi Sunder's music have made Puli Murugan an absolute mass entertainer.

The initial reports were that the distributor had plans of releasing the movie in more than 200+ screens in Kerala, but now the number has come down to 150+ screens.

The major reason behind this is the ongoing success run of Oppam. Oppam had released on September 8th and is moving ahead breaking all collection records. The fact that the Mammootty starrer Thoppil Joppan and the Biju Menon-Asif Ali combination movie Kavi Uddeshichath are releasing on 7th and 8th October also have played their part in limiting the number of screens that Puli Murugan could get.

Sources close to the distributor say that Puli Murugan which will be hitting 150+ screens in Kerala should not be compared with Janatha Garage and Oppam which released in 120 and 104 screens respectively in the state.
