Movie buffs and Vijay fans are badly hoping that the double taxation issue gets sorted out quickly so that Mersal could release peacefully without any problems. Mersal team is very confident of releasing the film for Diwali on the 18th of October.
Mersal has got a U/A certificate. Some final DI and sound mixing works are in progress right now. If things go as per plan, Mersal would be hitting the screens in 8 days from now. So when will the 1st ever public screening of Mersal take place? Will Mersal have premiere shows in the overseas market?
We got in touch with our source close to Mersal team to know about their premiere plans, and this is what they had to say, "The KDM will be delivered worldwide at 3 AM IST on the 18th of October. No 1 AM shows or special overseas premieres will be there." So we presume the first show of Mersal will be at 3 AM Indian time.
The theatre owners are on a strike currently, against the double taxation and the Government's rule to levy 10 % entertainment tax.
While everyone is doubtful if the strike will end before Mersal's release, the film's executive producer Aditi Ravindranath of Thenandal Studios took to Twitter to share her opinion on this issue. She said that Mersal needs a festival (Diwali) release.
Aditi posted, "To All : Please understand a producers plight. Really hope #doubletaxation issue gets sorted. Team #MERSAL needs a Diwali release."
