“I TOUCH THEM, KISS THEM AND SMELL THEM”, JACKIE CHAN

Jackie Chan was recently conferred with an honorary Oscars during a ceremony in Los Angeles this weekend.

During his acceptance speech, Chan thanked everyone and said, “Academy Award! I still can’t believe I am standing here. It’s a dream. Long time ago, every year when I used to watch the Oscar Awards with dad, sometimes with my mom, my dad used to ask me - Son, when are you going to get an Oscar?  I told him it would never happen because I make action comedy films.

Many years later, 23 years ago, I visit my friend (Sylvester) Stallone’s house. I see these little things (statuette) in his house. I touch them, kiss them and smell them. I believe still my fingerprints are there on them. Then I talk to myself. I really want one.

Finally, after 56 years in the industry, after having made more than 200 films, finally this is mine. I want to thank my family, my wife, my son, my friends, my fans, my country and Hollywood! Thank you. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart!”

After starting to leave the stage, Chan yelled over the music which caused the band to stop playing, to thank his fans.  He said because of them, he had reason to continue jumping through windows and breaking his bones.
