Dubbing artist Raveena talks about her projects

Voice artists are very integral to our films as many of our lady artists make use of their services to bring perfection to their characterization. Raveena is one such young and talented dubbing artist who has given life and fullness through her voice to characters in many films. Her mom Sreeja Ravi is also a renowned dubbing artist.

Raveena has dubbed for Amy Jackson in Theri and has finished her portions. She is also the voice behind Madonna for Kaadhalum Kadandhu Pogum and also for Catherine Tresa in Kanithan.

We have a chat with the beautiful young lady who will soon be making a foray as a heroine into films too.

Is your mom an inspiration to enter this line?
I never planned to enter dubbing. I started dubbing when I was just two years old. I just used to repeat whatever they said like a ‘chamathu ponnu’. However Saattai was my first movie technically. A sound engineer had referred my name to the film. Luckily my voice got okayed and that’s how it started. Of course, mom is definitely my inspiration and if I am able to reach at least a little of what she has done, I consider it a huge accomplishment

What are mom’s tips?
She advises me to be patient, observant and always listen to the director. She would also tell me to get involved with the character as dubbing plays a crucial role in the way a film shapes up.

What are the languages you dub?
I have dubbed for Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu films and I have been doing commercials from a very young age in Bengali, Marathi, Tulu etc.  In Tamil, I have done around 25-30 films just for heroines alone.

Tough projects?
I and Anegan were very tough. Nee-Na and Bhaskar The Rascal in Malayalam also were very challenging. In Kaadhalum Kadandhu Pogum, my work will be there through out from ‘smoking causes cancer’. In fact, I have always wanted to say those lines and pestered the director to speak that in the film.

Dhanush
I am a huge fan of Dhanush. He is a very good actor. In VIP, I did the dubbing for Surabhi and Dhanush was there during dubbing. I simply could not focus on my work at all!!!

Acting offers

Yes, they have been coming and I will soon be signing a good project. I will announce soon.

Wishing you the best Raveena!
