The wait has been more than acceptable for film lovers and Kamal fans all over the world. Every year passes by and the hope for Marudhanayagam getting revived became less.
But much to everybody’s surprise, Ayngaran international made a tweet with just Marudhanayagam’s poster saying nothing about it. Speculations arose and everybody wanted to know what it was about. It is also said that Lyca may be bankrolling this venture.
Now, a trustworthy source says, "Yes, the talks have been happening for a while and there are high possibilities of the iconic project being resumed. When Kamal wanted to make a historic film and was in research for a story, it was Sujatha’s introduction to Vanamamalai’s novel that led to the finding of the king Muhammed Yusuf Khan.
The project which had a trailer shot in the year 1997 never took off owing to budget and logistic issues. The long-delayed project is definitely getting a facelift and you’ll have the best working for this film. If everything goes well, there will be announcements made and the team will begin the pre-production".
Ages ago, when Kamal had to talk about the dream project, he said he never wanted the film to be shot if he does not get the right producer to make the 'almost' French film. Though based on a region specific religious sentiment, the picaresque journey of Marudhanayagam will excite anybody.
So, is Lyca on board to produce this film? Will Kamal brush aside the dust and bring the film to glory? Will the cast and crew be retained? All these questions will continue to be unanswered until anything gets official. But for now, something is cooking up and if it gets to be the revival of Marudhanayagam everybody is going to be more than elated.
If it's Lyca producing this film, then they'll have both Rajini and Kamal as the heroes for the two biggest films the country will ever see.
