WWE over the years has produced a very strong booking angle for certain gifted pro-wrestlers right from their debut. Here are some of the best rookie years in the WWE featuring top wrestlers who made the biggest impact within the first year of their respective debuts.

SHEAMUS

Sheamus

Sheamus would initially debut in ECW and would later be drafted to RAW. Later, in just 166 days on the main roster, Sheamus would beat John Cena in a tables match in the 2009 TLC PPV to win his first WWE Championship. Later, despite losing the title to Randy Orton, Sheamus would win the title twice in his rookie year by defeating Randy Orton, Edge, and John Cena at the 2010 Fatal-4-Way PPV. 

YOKOZUNA

Yokozuna

Yokozuna won the 1993 Royal Rumble match just four months after debuting and would go on to beat Bret Hart at WrestleMania IX to become WWE Champion. Despite losing the belt to Hulk Hogan just seconds later, Yoko beat Hogan to retain the belt that June and would fend off challenges from the likes of The Undertaker and Lex Luger in a near year-long title reign.

THE SHIELD

The Shield

Despite being the only faction to make the list, The Shield right from their main roster debut in Survivor Series PPV in 2013, where they would beat up Ryback and John Cena, would run the yard for the next couple of years. They go on to lay waste to anyone who crossed their paths including John Cena, Randy Orton, Ric Flair, Mick Foley, The Rock and even The Undertaker. While Dean Ambrose would become the United States Champion, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns would win the Tag Team Championships, and the trio would go on to dominate the entire roster.

AJ STYLES

AJ Styles

Regarded as the best Wrestler in the world, AJ Styles would shock the world, ending all the rumors surrounding his WWE career, debuting in Royal Rumble 2016. He would engage in a feud with Chris Jericho until WrestleMania. Styles would then go on to become the no 1 contender for Roman Reigns’ WWE World Title and would produce a couple of Five-Star matches with Reigns, coming short on both occasions. Styles would go on to enter a feud with John Cena and would end up pinning the face that runs the place cleanly in the middle of the ring in 2016 Summerslam PPV.  The 'Phenomenal One' would then beat Dean Ambrose to win the WWE World Title, a run that ended at Royal Rumble 2017 in yet another classic with John Cena. 

KURT ANGLE

Kurt Angle

The 2017 WWE Hall of Fame-elect made his much-anticipated debut at the Survivor Series 1999 and went on to win the European Championship in February 2000. A few weeks later, Angle won the Intercontinental Championship and would go on hold both belts until WrestleMania. Angle then went on to win the King of the Ring tournament later that year and followed it up by becoming WWE Champion by beating The Rock at No Mercy PPV.

BROCK LESNAR

Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar debuted the night after WrestleMania 18 and was undefeated for seven straight months, even beating Hulk Hogan. Later, he would win the King of the Ring tournament in 2002 and would go on to beat The Rock in the annual Summerslam PPV event to win the WWE Championship. After losing the title, Lesnar would win the 2003 Royal Rumble PPV and would main event WrestleMania by defeating Kurt Angle for his second WWE Championship reign.
