According to the Aviation Safety Network, 2016 has been declared the second safest year on record. However, several crashes reportedly happened in the year 2016-17. Here, let's look at the recent aircraft accidents between 2016-17.

EGYPTAIR CRASH

EgyptAir crash

A plane from EgyptAir en route from Paris to Cairo reportedly made a sharp 90 degree turn to the left and crashed into the Mediterranean Sea approximately on May 19, 2016. The accident killed 66 people onboard.

INDIAN AIR FORCE PLANE GOES MISSING

Indian Air Force plane goes missing

An Antonov An-32 aircraft reportedly carrying 29 air officials from Chennai (Tambaram AFB) - Port Blair reportedly went missing after 16 minutes after take off on July 22, 2016. All 29 officers were declared dead.

CHAPECOENSE SOCCER TEAM CRASH

Chapecoense soccer team crash

A chartered passenger jet declared an emergency after it ran out of fuel and crashed 22 miles south of Medellin, Colombia on November 28, 2016. The accident killed 71 persons including the players of the Brazilian Chapecoense soccer team.

INDONESIAN AIRCRAFT CRASH

Indonesian Aircraft crash

A Military plane crashed into mountainous terrain in Indonesia while attempting to land at Warmera on December 18, 2016. The accident killed thirteen people aboard.

RUSSIAN AIR FORCE CRASH

Russian Air Force crash

A plane carrying reporters and servicemen crashed into the waters of the Black Sea about a mile offshore on December 25, 2016.

TURKISH AIRLINES CRASH IN KYRGYZSTAN

Turkish Airlines crash in Kyrgyzstan

Turkish Airlines Flight from Hong Kong to Istanbul crashed during landing at Manas International Airport on 6 January 2017. The crash killed 35 people in a residential district located near the airport.

MYANMAR AIR FORCE CRASH

Myanmar Air Force crash

The transport plane carrying more than 100 military personnel and their families reportedly crashed about 20 miles west of Dawei in the Andaman Sea on June 08 2017. The accident killed all the passengers and crew aboard.
