The Union Tourism Ministry on Thursday reportedly released data that revealed the high performing states in domestic tourism for 2016. Here, let's take a look at the top ten states in India that attract a larger number of tourists.
10. RAJASTHAN
Rajasthan is in the tenth place in the list with 4.15 crores of domestic tourist visits.
9. GUJARAT
Gujarat holds the ninth place in the list with 4.28 crores of domestic tourist visits.
8. TELANGANA
Telangana has taken the 8th spot as the best domestic tourist state India with 7.15 crores of domestic tourist visits.
7. WEST BENGAL
West Bengal jumped to the seventh place this year in the list with the domestic tourist visits of 7.45 crores.
6. MAHARASHTRA
Maharashtra is the sixth best state in India in attracting the domestic tourists with 11.54 crores of domestic tourist visits.
5. KARNATAKA
Karnataka has taken the fifth place in the list with 12.98 crores of domestic tourist visits.
4. ANDHRA PRADESH
Andhra Pradesh takes the fourth spot in the list with 15.85 crores of domestic tourist visits.
3. MADHYA PRADESH
Madhya Pradesh takes the third spot in the best internal tourist states list with 18.47 crores of domestic tourist visits.
2. UTTAR PRADESH
Uttar Pradesh holds the second place in attracting domestic tourists with 22.96 crores of domestic tourist visits.
1. TAMIL NADU
Tamil Nadu remains at the top in attracting domestic tourists for the third consecutive year with 34.43 crores of domestic tourist visits.
