The Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi in 2008 launched his own political party Praja Rajyam. He later merged the party with Indian National Congress in 2011. He was elected to Rajya Sabha in 2012 and sworn in as Union Minister of State (Independent charge), Ministry of Tourism.
