This statement is reiterated through Mammooty’s character in Puthiya Niyamam. He is easy, simple and is spotted living the life of a real middle class man. On the other hand, Nayanthara without any trouble bolsters the story with her commendable performance. This is the kind of role that will give fodder to the performer inside the heroine Nayanthara and as a true admirer of cinema, you feel ecstatic about this opportunity she has got to prove her mettle.
Good dialogues that reassure human values mouthed by Mammooty in an entertaining manner paves way for realizations very subtly.

Appreciation to the storyteller for having had consistency in the pace of narration rather than the sudden rush up towards the climax. Editor Vivek Harshan seems to have completely understood the director’s vision; as mentioned, the pacing didn’t result in restlessness. Concern regarding the sequencing of few scenes crops up as a small glitch in the process of narration though.
What makes a film believable? Even if the artist in the background placed for the sake of atmosphere holds a clarity of purpose of his/her existence in the frame. Puthiya Niyamam showcases good performances from all its supporting artists too. Special mention to the three men/villains who are convincingly hate worthy. Afterall, that is the core intention of their characters.
Neat work rendered by Robby Raj behind the camera and aesthetic DI boosts your overall experience. The way the shot breakdown has been worked out while the game changing incident in the tale reveals his mastery.
Songs by Vinu Thomas are functional while Gopi Sundar tries to help us enter into the mood through his background score. But one might feel that he has taken up too much responsibility while doing his job. Few BGM loops were overused and silence in few places could have done an unexplainable magic.
Usually while reviewing a film, comparing it with another film is not an appreciated idea. But if that comparison can convey the exact message intended by the reviewer, why cease?
