Actor Sunny Wayne came to Malayalam film industry with the 2012 Super-Hit film 'Second Show' alongside Dulquer Salmaan. The two share a special bond of friendship known to everyone who follows Malayalam cinema. It is for the first time the two have their films competing with each other at the Box Office. 'Parava' having Dulquer in an extended cameo released just a day before Sunny Wayne's 'Pokkiri Simon'.

Tamil Superstar Vijay has a huge fan base in Kerala, and his movies are received and celebrated in Kerala like the state is just an extension of Tamil Nadu. 'Pokkiri Simon: Oru Kadutha Aaradhakan' as the name suggests, is the story of Simon, a diehard fan of Vijay. Scripted by K Ambady and produced by Krishnan Sethukumar, the movie, directed by Jijo Antony is a commercial entertainer that has a hidden relevant message in it.

Jijo Antony has done a pretty decent job in the directorial department even though many loose ends are evident. The wafer-thin story and the loose screenplay has nothing new to offer but has the elements one expects from a true commercial movie. To be frank, at times the movie is very much like a spoof of Vijay movies and thus lacks originality. The real story of the movie is the darkness of a mafia and a group of Vijay fans dealing with it. If the movie had a strong screenplay that demanded the hero and his friends to be a fan group, and if it was written with scenes and incidents woven into itself in a way never explored before, it would have become a mass movie.

The cast has Sunny Wayne playing the title role and Prayaga Martin playing the lead lady. Wayne has pulled off the character decently and once again proves that he has the credentials to be a commercial hero. Prayaga Martin has very little to perform other than being the hero's love interest. Angamaly Diaries fame Sarath Kumar and Tito Wilson appear as the close aids of the protagonist and the antagonist. Dileesh Pothan plays a pivotal role and has yet again delivered a convincing performance. Shammi Thilakan, Saiju Kurup, Nedumudi Venu and Ashokan have done justice in playing their parts neatly.

Pappinu cranks the camera and has made the movie very colourful. The most talented and trending music director in Malayalam Gopi Sunder has handled the music department and his scores justify the movie's genre.
